Need to Cool off ?

We have certainly had some very mixed weather of late with a very wide range of temperatures and conditions. Two weekends ago you could easily be forgiven for thinking it was the height of summer and the weather and the atmosphere at Aker Brygge were positively scorching. I don't think I have ever seen so many kids on skateboards as I did that weekend. I've included a picture below of the many warships that visited the city during the recent NATO exercise in the fjord. Anyway, this is the time of year when a nice cool pils is very welcome and perhaps more so that the English style bitters that I normally drink. You can't beat a cool pils to quench your thirst on a hot summer day. Norway is blessed with some rather good breweries and a Ringnes or Hansa is very popular at my apartment when temperatures rise ! I have sadly seen one or two Oslo bars close down recently which is rather sad, as it's often the better ones that go and not always for the right reasons, but not so many new bars have opened, so if you know of a new bar that we should review, then send us a mail. Oslopubs will be travelling Europe this weekend if the tickets come through in time, as we are off on a beer tasting weekend in Prague, so watch this space for news on the Czech pub scene !
