Czech Republic Pubs
Prague is arguably the beer capital of the world. This is perhaps the only place in the world where beer is cheaper than water. It's not just a little cheaper either.... in fact in most Prague pubs you an buy a beer for around 25 Czech crowns and a similar sized glass of water or Coke will cost you four times as much. Is that crazy or is this simply heaven ? We will leave you to decide. This section covers a number of great pubs that we have visited in the Prague city centre area, but we have heard that there are good and even cheaper bars further out of town if you are prepared to travel. I can also recommend the pub walk organised by Prague City Walks. It wasn't so good in terms of learning about the brewing, pub history and traditions of the Czech Republic, but it did introduce us to one or two bars that we might never have found on our own and a little local knowledge is always priceless. You can find more information from your hotel or local tourist office, but they usually meet at the astronomical clock at 19:15 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The cost is a little high at 450 Czech Crowns, but you will get three drinks and a small meal.
