The Orange Tree has been around for
many years in various forms. It was traditionally an old English
style coaching inn, but it has changed somewhat in recent years to
accommodate
the trend towards eating out more and more. The bar area is rather
nice and trendy and furnished with wooden chairs and lots of comfy
sofas and makes an ideal, informal meeting place. The restaurant area
is very modern and not particularly private, but that bothers fewer
people these days. The menu is extensive and has something for every
taste with a selection of specials too. I have always found the food
here to be very well prepared and very tasty. It's not particularly
expensive either. It has become very popular with the lunchtime business
crowd. It's not far from Solihull, Warwick, Stratford or the NEC either,
but I guess few exhibition centre visitors will even know about the
place or be bothered to venture far from their cosy hotel environments.
I'll save a mention for the beer as we are an pub site after all !
The beer is superb and very well kept. They serve their beer just the
way an English bitter should be served and they are even reconised
on the local CAMRA web site and if they like it, then it can't be too
bad ! They serve Tetley's bitter and Green King Abbot and IPA. Excellent.
They
are part
of the
Orange
Tree,
Boot, Crabmill chain,
which are all excellent pubs in
the area. They also own a restaurant in central Birmingham called the Metro
Bar and Grill. This place really is superb and it reminds me I
have to get there again sometime soon. England is full of little gems
like this,
so pack your bag and come over ! |
