Even though this place
is located on one of the biggest streets in Prague, it's certainly
not one of the easiest places to find ! You may also be directed here
if you ask for the Hard Rock Cafe at your hotel. For the record, there
may also be a place in town called the Hard Rock Cafe, but it's not
official. You can even buy 'official' looking Hard Rock T shirts from
the many souvenir shops in town if you are feeling as though you are
missing out on something. The Rock Cafe is the place to come for those
into heavy rock and live bands and there is live music every night.
There's no cover charge to come into the bar area, but you pay extra
to go into
the back
to
watch
the
band.
The toilets are located at the back so unless you pay to watch the
band, you have to find an alternative 'beer recycling' station ! This
was the only place in Prague to serve us beer in plastic glasses, but
the Pilsner Urquell on offer was cool, tasty very cheap and is often
accompanied by free salted popcorn which of course makes you want to
drink even more.....not that we needed much encouragement ! This is
not necessarily a tourist bar, but non-locals are made very welcome
here. The flame like interior made you feel like you had made a trip
to the devil's kingdom which is precisely how you might feel after
a few glasses of Jim Beam which they promote quite openly. A great
bar for music lovers and like all Czech bars, it serves good, cool
and very cheap beer ! |
