We are not entirely sure of the history behind this rather unusually named pub. It certainly bears a very English name and i'm sure that 99% of Czech people don't have a clue what it means, so there must be some strong English influence somewhere. There is another bar of the same name elsewhere in Prague, but we only visited the one at Ostrovni. It really was in one of the back streets and difficult to find without local assistance and for that reason you won't find many tourists here. It's worth seeking out though as it's a rather unusual place. Like many Prague bars, it's underground and looks like it was originally a cellar, but it has been beautifully decorated and the brickwork adds to the atmosphere. They serve Stella Artois, Hoegaarden and Kelp stout and at almost local beer prices too. Many bars selling Stella want two or three times the price of a local beer, but not here. The food looked superb although we did not eat here and the dining room is popular with the locals at lunchtime, where they serve wholesome food at unbelievable prices. We do recommend that you find this place or its sister bar and maybe tie in a visit to Cheers at the same time, which is only 100m away from here. If nothing else, please do click on the link to their website. I have not laughed so much in ages and you will not be disappointed !
