The Pilsner Urquell brewery and
visitor centre is a "must visit" place for anyone
visiting Plzen or indeed the Czech Republic. We can highly recommend
the 70 minute tour and it's
well worth the entrance fee. It's very informative and a whole lot
of fun
too. You also get to taste unfiltered, un-preserved Pilsner
Urquell in the cellars at one of just two places in the world where
it's available, the other being a local pub in Plzen. If you thought
that
regular Pilsner
Urquell was good then wait until you
taste the "real" stuff. They have been brewing the traditional Pilsner
here since 1842 and their pride
in what they have achieved and the world-wide popularity of their
beer is clear for everyone to see. Any beer lover will feel at home
here
! While at the brewery, we can also recommend a visit to the highly
popular Na Spilce restaurant. The food is very traditionally Czech,
reasonably priced and what better place to sample the local brew.
For Czech brewing enthusiasts, there is also the famous Velke Popovice
and Radegast breweries, both brewing excellent quality ales for
discerning
beer
drinkers throughout the world. Take a look at their excellent web
site for more information.
