Benihana Cupertino is part of the rapidly growing,
worldwide chain of Benihana restaurants. I
say worldwide, but about 80% of their restaurants
are in North America and there are only five in Europe, of which three
are in London ! I have visited this restaurant many times and I have
never been disappointed yet. This is certainly a place to go to when
there's a crowd of people and definitely if you have something to celebrate.
If you are there for a Birthday, then be sure to let them know and
the waitresses will all gather round and sing traditional Japanese
Birthday songs to you. Alternatively, keep quiet and make sure your
friends do too ! As
with all the restaurants we feature here at Oslo Pubs, the food is
superb. I typically always end up having the "Chef's
Special" which is basically, Lobster Tail, Scallops and Filet Mignon.
Also order some Hibachi Chicken rice to go with it. It's worth it just
to watch the chef prepare it ! You can wash it down with a bottle or
two of Japanese Kirin beer. It's a good idea to start with Sushi too,
as it gets you in the mood for the coming feast. It's advisable not
to have eaten at all for a week before coming here as you will struggle
to eat everything that you are given. The
food is prepared on a hot plate in front of you and each hot plate
table seats around
eight people. The chefs are particularly entertaining and they perform
a number of tricks while they prepare your food. They flick shrimp
tails into their hats and make volcanoes from onion rings, but be sure
to be on your guard when they start throwing the knives around ! There's
a cocktail bar where you can enjoy a drink before dining or maybe afterwards
too. It can be a rather expensive place to eat. If
you have the Chef's Special, Sushi to start and a couple of beers,
the bill can be 60
to 70 Dollars, but you don't need to be quite so extravagant. They
have
a
great lunchtime menu too, which is more reasonably priced. The entire
menu
can be downloaded from their web site. So, if you want a night to truly
remember,
Benihana Cupertino is the place and you really must take your camera
with you. They like to say that their food is not only cooked, it's
choreographed and i'm not about to argue with that ! |
